Wanting to Eat Less With ACV Without Even Knowing It

by Rick
(Santa Barbara)

French translation

When I go out to restaurants for breakfast I usually eat all on the plate.

After using ACV, I noticed I couldn't eat all of it, maybe half, as I was full or uninterested in eating more.

Don't ask me why, yet this happened after I started using ACV.

Vinegar for Acid Reflux

"Apple cider vinegar is a great NATURAL remedy
for acid reflux!"

At first glance, vinegar and acid reflux might sound like an unlikely combination until you review the overwhelming positive testimonials published throughout the internet.

Indeed a recent survey on acid reflux conducted at the earth clinic web site ranked apple cider vinegar as the best of all the home remedies suggested to relieve the symptoms of occasional heartburn or acid reflux.

So what is acid reflux and how are vinegar and acid reflux related?
Acid reflux or heartburn occurs when strong stomach acid leaks back up into the esophagus. The esophagus is the tube which carries food from your mouth to your stomach. vinegar and acid reflux When you swallow, a circular band of muscle around the bottom part of the esophagus relaxes to allow food and liquid to enter into your stomach.

Normally this muscle valve, called the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), is closed and keeps the digestive acid and food inside the stomach where it belongs.

However if the LES valve opens when it shouldn't, hydrochloric acid from the stomach can reflux back and touch the lining of the esophagus.

This can cause a burning sensation in the chest or throat known as acid reflux or heartburn.

Most people experience the occasional episode of heartburn and although unpleasant, it is generally nothing to worry about. Frequent or constant heartburn however can be a serious problem and is the most common symptom of gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Ref: Mayo Clinic Staff, Oct 18, 2005. ( Web Link )

Two approaches commonly advocated for the treatment of heartburn or acid reflux include:
Using medication to reduce stomach acid.Dietary and lifestyle changes such as:The reduction or elimination of foods and other intakes that can increase the secretion of hydrochloric acid in the stomach and/or relax the LES muscle (and thereby aggravate the problem) such as nicotine (from smoking), alcohol, chocolate, high fat meals, foods which contain high amounts of calcium and protein, and certain calming herbs like peppermint.
Losing weight if you are overweight or obese since excess body weight puts extra pressure the stomach and surrounding muscles which can force open the LES valve when it shouldn't be. Similarly, eating smaller meals will reduce the pressure on the LES muscle.
Vinegar and Acid Reflux - The Natural Home Treatment

A third approach (a popular natural home remedy) to help reduce or eliminate acid reflux is to take the following apple cider vinegar tonic:
Natural ACV Tonic
2 or 3 teaspoons (10-15 ml) in an 8 ounce glass of water,
before meals or whenever heartburn is experienced.

One underlying theory here is that the acetic acid in vinegar lowers stomach acidity (increases its pH) since acetic acid is a weaker acid than hydrochloric acid. It is also believed that vinegar (acetic acid along with its acetate salt) may help buffer and maintain stomach acid at a pH level of about 3.0. In this milder acidic environment, the stomach can still efficiently digest food but it causes less problems with the esophagus and thus less heartburn.

Another theory contends that the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) is a pH sensitive valve.
When there is food in the stomach with insufficient acid present, the LES valve can periodically flop open, causing acid reflux.
Too little acid in the stomach may be caused by different factors, but one of the most common one is that, as we grow older, our body does not produce as much stomach acid.
As a result the LES valve, sensing less acid, periodically flops open causing acid reflux.
Drinking apple cider vinegar supplies the LES valve with the acidity it needs to function properly.

Improved digestion and mineral absorption from regular intake of the apple cider vinegar tonic may also play a role in reducing acid reflux.

So if you are concerned about possible side effects with prescription drugs or even over-the-counter medications, try combining some of the dietary and lifestyle changes mentioned above along with a tonic of apple cider vinegar before meals as an all natural way to alleviate occasional heartburn symptoms or as a preventative practice. Vinegar and acid reflux could be a combination that works well for you.

If you are searching for a more comprehensive step by step holistic system to cure your acid reflux then have a look at Jeff Martin's e-book
called " Heartburn No More".

In this 186 page book Jeff Martin, who was himself a longtime heartburn sufferer, discloses the completely natural system he and numerous others have used to rid themselves of heartburn in all levels of severity.

The e-book can be downloaded to your computer immediately and comes with a 2 month instant money back guarantee.

I have been on Lanzoprazole for Acid Reflux for ten years and really wanted to come off them because this condition has been ruling my life.

If I missed taking taking a pill in the morning I would begin to suffer mid way through the day. I would even panic if I was going away on holiday and thought I may run out of my prescription pills and then my girlfriend heard about ACV and bought me some. I was sceptical about it but thought what the hell.

All I can say is I am utterly amazed, I have never gone over one day without my prescription pills but after taking ACV I am now on my third day without them.

What a revelation!

I wish I had known about this years ago before spending hundreds of $$$$$ on Nexium.

Simply put...this works, and works better than any prescription drug that I've taken.

Hopefully, some day this country will smarten-up and invest more money in natural health cures rather than supporting all the greedy self-serving drug companies !!!

I have suffered with acid reflux & severe stomach problems, fatigue & I would get flu like symptoms often.

I just went to the Dr yesterday. I've dropped 30 lbs within one year. I stopped drinking cokes, stopped eating @ McD's & I stopped eating @ 6pm.

I also drink ACV everyday in water. Dr can't believe my acid reflux is gone. He's amazed.

I did not think this would work but I was desperate for relief.

My wife heard about this from her grandmother and suggested it about 10 times before I gave in and tried. ?We were on vacation and my acid reflux was ruining our trip. ?I had taken prescription medications and had experienced all the side effects and was no longer getting the benefits. ?That was last winter and for a year now I have been able to completely control it.

For the first time in years I was able to sleep through the night. ?I used to wake with the taste and smell of burning tires in my mouth after just a few hours but now I feel great, sleep through the night and no longer need to take any prescription drugs.

I drink 2 cap fulls in a glass of 6-8 ounces of cold water over ice. ?I brush, rinse and head to bed.

Occasionally I will have a glass in the day time if I have the start of symptoms and it is done. ?This worked for me and is worth trying if you have experienced persistent heart burn.

I was on prilosec and then nexium for at least 10 years. I would periodically stop and the heartburn was intense, so I would pop the antacids.

I tried the apple vinegar (after eating) and it was like a miracle. PLUS it seems to last the whole day.

It actually seems to work better than the antacids.

5 years ago I heard about this after having been on Prevacid (and many other variants) for almost 6 years.

I decided to give it a try and found it MUCH more effective than any of the prescriptions I had been taking.

There is one caveat though: it works best if taken BEFORE eating, as afterwards it seems to add more fuel to the fire rather than preventing it in the first place. ?I used Braggs ACV (with the 'mother') as it was more palatable than the commercial brands.

My list of issues at the time I started this sounds like many of the rest of you: ?Hiatal hernia, GERD, I.B.S. on top of it (subsided to almost never after I got rid of the upper-end pain - maybe unique, but think the stress of Acid Reflux contributed heavily to IBS symptoms).
?
I heartily recommend this.

I have been desperately searching for a cure to this terrible condition LPR (Laryngopharyngeal Reflux).

This year has been horrible! It seems that every month or every two weeks I go through this relentless coughing, choking to the point of vomiting episodes. It has interfered with my socializing because I can't carry on a decent conversation without the coughing. And being invited to dinner is awful because with every bite, there is the cough.

It is crazy!! Sleeping through the night just does not happen due to the coughing. I was diagnosed with LPR and put on Prilosec OTC which I have been taking for several months now.

It seemed to work for a while and then I got off. When I started back this time, I find that it is not working as well and will probably need to increase the dosage which I don't want to do in light of the new findings on these types of meds.

I ran across the this site and immediately ran to the Nutrition Center for Braggs Apple Cider. I began taking it as soon as I got back in my car!!!

I am sure praying that this will work since I don't have the money to do all those tests (Barium swallow and the pH-metry). Plus I don't really ant to take the other medications if I can get by without it.
??
So.. this is my first day trying the acv and am expecting to get the results that most of you seem to have experienced. ?I will keep you posted.
PS This LPR really can make your life miserable!!!!

I spent 4 years on Ranitidine and then the last 9 or so on Prilosec.

These controlled my symptoms well but after reading recently about links between Prisolec / Omeprazole and osteoporosis I decided to search for a natural cure.

Today, for the first time in 13 years I did not pop a pill. 1 teaspoon of ACV, straight, before dinner. 3 hours later and I'm feeling good. Amazing. Why don't doctors know this? Or if they know, why don't they tell you?

I have also bought the "Heartburn No More" ebook by Jeff Martin, which is what led me to ACV. I think the book is worth the money for anyone looking for a natural way to eliminate the *causes* of heartburn, not just the symptoms.

I'm just getting started with the program, though, so can't say much more.

Good luck to us all, comrades.

Almost 4 years after being cured of a stomach disorder, I started having pains in the chest and difficulty breathing. I immediately thought it was my heart.

The challenge was to manage my different medications, including when to take them. Three years later, no progress.

I now have pains at night around my sternum. The doctor started prescribing different proton pump inhibitor medications, but the pain returns along with unsightly swelling once the medication is stopped.

Upon reading this internet page, I immediately bought some apple cider vinegar. The effect was magic! A spoon in a glass of water in the evening. After 3 days I don't feel anything.

Thank God for apple cider vinegar and those who made this information available.

I started drinking ACV to lose weight, using a link to my friend's Internet site.

I was very surprised to see my acid reflux return! It had stopped since a month, after I stopped drinking coffee. I was very disappointed. I persisted a few days... but to no avail. I then came back to the site and read the testimonials.

Then, I had an idea. What if I,

1)- used room temperature water, rather than iced water, as I had been doing?

2)- ENJOYED my drink and have it slowly, like an aperitif, rather than wolf it down?

It worked! The heartburn symptoms have ceased gradually.

We are now January 10, 2011, and I have not had any acid reflux for 5 days.

I will continue to drink ACV to lose weight and to heal my stomach completely. I will publish again soon.

Thanks to Rejane & Wayne!

Several months ago I developed extreme pain, nausea, and other symptoms.

First it seemed like gastritis, then maybe an ulcer. Finally, I had an upper-GI x-ray and was diagnosed with hiatal hernia and reflux.

My doc recommended 1 TBL of apple cider vinegar (I use Bragg's) before each meal and vegan digestive enzymes (I'm vegan).

By day 3, my nausea was GONE. ?The pain has not recurred either.

It's been about a week and a half and I've got my life back!!!

For three months I have basically been housebound from acute gastritis, acid reflux, hiatal hernia and mild duodenitis probably from too much NSAID use.

3 trips to the ER, given steroids, Protonix, then Prevacid which I started on November 1st. After searching the internet for reasons of ever-evolving symptoms--the latest being severe abdominal spams and cramps with constant diarrhea which when I am almost all cleaned out winds up mucosy and tinged with blood---I realized the evil drug PREVACID probably gave me the severe diarrhea and PPI-induced Colitis.

I have a new GI doctor, who I like, but she upped the dose of Prevacid to 60 mg per day instead of the 30 mg . ?The diarrhea got worse, the pains got severe and she is testing me for C-Diff and other stool pathogens and put me on Flagyl.

I am taking back control of my health and my life, which has stopped. ?I could not celebrate Thanksgiving, nor want to celebrate Christmas. During the small window in the afternoon hours that I get from a quiet intestinal tract and no spasms, I was able to try Braggs ACV.

I stopped the evil Prevacid and am slowly incorporating the Braggs into my day. I have taken 1/2 tsp in 4 oz of water with a drop or two of honey. ?It helped thus far.

I will post as I get further along.

When I came across this site, just a few days ago, I was sceptical? even very sceptical. I never the less tried while telling myself there was no harm in trying.

I have to admit that it works. After hardly 2 days, I saw a 90% improvement in my condition. The burning that I felt in my throat and sternum have practically disappeared.

I will continue to regularly drink apple cider vinegar, for sure, not only for acid reflux but for my state of health in general.

I had GERD for a decade and as a heart patient heartburn made me nervous.

I was taking Ranitidene and Omeprezole (Prilosec) and still need Tums on occasion. ?Then I noticed that vinegar potato chips seemed to help.

So I Googled vinegar + GERD found out about this.

I no longer have GERD but after a decade on Prilosec I now have Osteopenia, an early stage of Osteoporosis.

My theory of why this worked for me:
I've read that cold beverages are to be avoided with food as they slow digestion causing GERD. ?As an avid bicyclist I eat a lot for someone at their goal weight. Antacids slowed digestion so my stomach was often overfull.

I take 2 tbsp with one glass of water before dinner...and then immediately my acid reflux is gone.

I will definitely continue this acv till my acid reflux is gone...praise be to GOD for this wonderful acv :)

At age 19 I was diagnosed with Acid Reflux and a sliding hiatal hernia. ?I began taking 30 mg of Prevacid daily. ?This worked for me.

At age 29 I was ready to start having children but I did not want to take prescription medication during pregnancy.

I came across a website about the Braggs ACV and started doing the 2T w/ water a few times a day. ?I think it was only a matter of weeks and I didn't need anything. ?I did have normal heartburn during pregnancy but never got back on RX medications.

During my second pregnancy I had severe heart burn and was on Protonix until I delivered.

I am now 33, my youngest is 20 months and I have only had to do the ACV once since his birth.

I will never take RX medications for acid reflux again.
Completely amazing and totally opened my eyes to holistic medicine.

Let me tell you, it works. ?I am feeling so much better.

Thank you for sharing this information! ?I've been diagnosed with acid reflux due to heartburn symptoms.

It became chronic about 2 months ago. I had an upper endoscopy which found only mild irritation of the stomach. My gastroenterologist told me there was nothing to be done "except taking Prilosec for a few months and to see what happens". ?It was very discouraging and the medication made me feel sick.

I tried the ACV - 2 tablespoons in an 8 oz. glass of water at each meal. ?It's been a tremendous relief. ?All my symptoms gone - the coughing, hoarseness and burning.

It should be a duty or responsibility for physicians to offer up this information to their patients as an alternative. ?It's a shame that so many people continue to suffer and pay tremendous pharmaceutical and medical bills when this simple and cheap natural medicine is available.

I have had GERD on and off for years. ?I would go on the medication and it would clear up for awhile. ?This last time, medication didn't work and I hate take medication, never mind something that wasn't working.

My chiropractor suggested Braggs Apple Cider Vinegar. ?I went and bought it along with some 99% pure aloe juice. ?I mix it in with the vinegar and then add water to dilute it.

I take it 3 x per day, and it works!!! ?My reflux is a lot better and I can actually eat regular food again. ?(I was eating baby food). ?You can almost feel the stomach acid gurgling down instead of up. ?I also take baking soda in water if I do get a little acid feeling. ?THAT works great too. ?No more pills, tablets or liquids for me.

Anyone that has this problem, try the vinegar remedy.

I'm so happy to have come across this forum for all of us out there suffering from acid reflux.

I now realize that I am not alone! I've been suffering from acid reflux for a few years now which initially was brought on by spicy foods, alcohol, etc, but seemed to progress more recently to almost every day, no matter what I do.

My doctor put me on nexium which I've taken on and off for about a year but have never taken a medication in my lifetime and didn't want to start now at 38 years old. I was taking tums just before bed just to ease the burning when I laid down but I know that all this is not only just masking the problem but what side effects will I have down the road??

So very frustrated and depressed, I googled "how do you cure acid reflux" and came across this forum. I've heard about ACV before but never really tried it due my distaste for vinegar but after reading this forum I said "hey if its working for all these people why not give it a shot".

Well low and behold, I took a tablespoon of ACV with about 6 ounces of water. It amazingly I began feeling better almost instantly! I will continue on with this remedy and I'm truly a believer!

Thank you all for your encouraging comments, I'm hopeful that I can live a normal life again:)

After coughing a lot during a session of bronchitis, my acid reflux returned with burning in my oesophagus that was already irritated by the strong cough.

I took nexium, gaviscon etc? I was discouraged, nothing worked.

After having read on the internet the apple cider vinegar treatment, the taking of one teaspoon before each meal and at bedtime immediately regulated my problem.

Thank-you.

I had to take Prilosec for almost 2 years and begin having some bad side effects.

I search online and come to this site.

I tried ACV for 1 week, it worked well some first days, I quit using Prilosec right after drinking ACV. However, from 6th days, I feel choked again, sour in throat and heavy stomach again.

I will try ACV for several weeks and update. Thanks for all sharing comments. God Bless you!

Update: October 30, 2010

Update to my comment on Oct 04

After using ACV for a while, I see it works to cure the symptoms. However, I really want to cure it permanently, I buy e-book "Heart burn no more" via the link in this website. I don't write this message to support for the book, but share with all of you who have same problem as me about an acid reflux remedy. However, when I starting eating, symptoms seem come back, thus I have to watch out my food carefully, avoid any foods that caused bad symptoms.

I still drink ACV, sometimes I forgot but no bad things happened. Before using ACV, any time I did weight lifting in the gym, my heart would beat disorderly after that when I was back home (even I took Prilosec every day). However, now with ACV I can work out and feel good after that, no problem happened to my heart beating.

Currently, I still experience acid reflux symptoms such as sour on throat, feel choked, sour stomach,.. but not that serious and often like before, and I know what cause it (such as I ate some fried foods, ate late at night,...) so I can control it.

From my experience, I encourage people using ACV to cure acid reflux, but you also take care carefully your dietary and life style. I will continue update my situation. Happy Halloween :)

It was very interesting reading all the great feedback about ACV, I also suffered from acid reflux last year.

I have worked out a few handy hints: ?A piece of red apple (red delicious) before going to bed helps with reflux while sleeping, 1/4 teaspoon of bicarbonate of soda in a little water neutralize acid and give instant relief, avoid rich food. ?Stress was the main cause of my condition then, I found yoga and meditation to be very helpful.

All the very best and thank you all for ACV which I will take anyway for better health.

I have had chronic reflux for about 3 months now and loosing sleep, constant pain, hard to swallow food. However a friend said try ACV, I thought to my self, YEA right.

3 days later, very sleep depraved, I had a meeting with my boss at his home. Having told him about my loss of sleep he told me that he has a dessert spoon with honey in hot water every morning he said it fixed it so as long as he takes it every morning .

At this point I asked him for a sample and its quite good I thought.

Later that day I went down to supermarket brought acv and have NEVER NEVER had one issue with reflux EVER AGAIN and I can eat what I want whenever I want.

I strongly recommended you try it, it truly is a Very good fix.

I developed acid reflux in the third trimester of pregnancy which is just over a year ago.

I suffered with heartburn, chest pain and pain in my left shoulder blade. I was really scared ?there was something very serious going on.

My GP suggested l go for an endoscope, which l am currently awaiting an appointment, as she suspects l may have acid reflux. in the meantime l have been put on medication to try alleviate the problem.

While browsing the internet l came across this site and decided to try Apple cider vinegar. I've only tried it in the past two days but already feel the difference. I use one tablespoon in boiled water at bedtime. It makes a nice cuppa and is also very relaxing.

Hopefully this improvement will continue. Thanks so much to all of you whose comments have encouraged me to try ACV. It really does work.

ACV is a perfect remedy for acid reflux.

Please be sure to take care to get it off your teeth. I used to sip on a drink of ACV and honey for much of the day and ended up with many cavities.

Drink it all at once, then swish mouth with water. Do not brush your teeth right away because the enamel gets soft because of the acidity.

Someone said to chew gum...sounds good. Wait about 1/2 hour to brush your teeth so your don't strip the enamel from your teeth.

Good evening,
Well listen, I came across this article, this forum and these comments while spending the week documenting this problem, new for me, but very painful. Worse than anything I have ever had, I think?
I will try.

5 minutes before the store opening, I was already waiting. I started (taking ACV) as soon as I arrived home, as well as this evening at the table. I don't know why, but I am already hurting much less. I took Omeprazole anyway, which up to then had no effect, nor Gaviscon. I will see tomorrow?

I hope I will not have any secondary effects, such as stomach aches or others, nor aggregate my case. But for now I am reviving a little. That's it, my personal experience.

I have not yet had any exams, just seen the doctor who has prescribed medications, and said that if my condition did not improve it would become necessary to have further exams.

Amazing.
I have GERDS and also I have sleep apnea. Waking up feeling tired from acid discomfort during the night has been a regular thing for about 6 years.

A friend told me to take tablespoons of mustard to which I laughed. I researched it one day while I was bored and learned about the benefits of vinegar.

Took a spoonful yesterday after lunch and I felt a difference. Took another one after dinner, before bed and I wake up early this morning refreshed- a good night's rest for once.

I couldn't care less about the taste. If people can take a shot of whiskey to calm nerves who's to complain about a shot of vinegar to calm a stomach!

I've had the Braggs brand in my kitchen for quite some time and am finally getting a chance to see if it works.

Playing it safe I took just a half tablespoon of the acv and followed it with about 6 oz. of distilled water. This was about an hour ago and already I feel a difference.

I will certainly be taking 2 tablespoons with water tonight and then some. I really do appreciate all of your comments. Thank You.

I used to take Prilosec every day for two years.

After getting advice from family, I stopped taking the pills and I drink AVC two times a day. I mix ACV with apple juice and it tastes great. ?My reflux is gone and I feel much better about my health.

Also, I recommend chewing gum to clean the acid off your teeth, and it also helps with reflux.

OMG...I'm a 35 year old mother of two and have had problems with heartburn and sour stomach since I was a child and my grandma would give me acv.

For years I didn't have a problem until I had my son 9 years ago and it got worse.

I have been taking all of these over the counter medicine which no longer help and tonight I couldn't take it anymore and I googled how to treat acid reflux and this remedy came up and the light bulb went off in my head.

I took the acv and it has started working already.

I'm so upset that I didn't remember this from my childhood and that I have been suffering for the last 9 years for nothing...It really does work everyone.

Three years ago I was scoped and found out that I had esophagitis and old healed ulcers. The doctor sent me home and said to take antacids.

My condition has worsened to the point that my throat burns 24/7 and I can even vomit tums. I have tried all of the PPI's and the acid reducers. I have serious bloating, belching and pain.

The meds gave me abdominal pain and diarrhea. Desperate, I called to make an appointment with the specialist even though I did not think there was anything he could do for me.

One night I was in so much pain that I went on the internet and learned about people all over the world using ACV to treat reflux. I had read about it a year ago, but as a nurse, I reasoned that treating an acid problem with an acid didn't make sense.

I tried it two weeks ago and the improvement started the first day. I think it will take a little longer for the gastritis to calm down but the constant burning in my throat is 90% better. I use 1 tablespoon of vinegar in 6 oz of water with a package of Truvia morning and night. I drink it down and it tastes almost like lemonade. I hold my breath on the last swallow and then get a swallow of clear water before breathing. I rinse my mouth with water to get the acid off my teeth.

I cancelled my appointment with the gastroenterologist as I am getting better each day. I thank everyone for their testimonials.

I've had acid reflux for at least 3 years.

After 2 endoscopies and barium swallow studies, the doctor prescribed Aciphex. It did help some, but the side effects are constipation & I still had some heartburn and bloating.

During this time, I probably gained at least 30 lbs.

It was suggested by a friend to try ACV for weight loss. I tried the vinegar in water and then in tea and the taste was really bad. I now take the ACV -one tablespoon twice daily and I chase it with a flavored water.

There is no more burning acid reflux, bloating or excessive gas.

Taking Apple Cider Vinegar has made me feel so much better.

I can't believe it....after 1 1/2 years of trying 3 different prescriptions and every over the counter med....as a final solution I searched the web and found this site and many others like it talking about ACV.....gave it a try.

Honestly in half a glass I felt relief! ?I stopped all the reflux medicine and now have 8 oz of water with 3 tsp. of apple cider vinegar and little honey about 1/2 hour before meals and at bedtime (and anytime I feel the need).

I also removed ?problem foods from my diet till things level out....then I introduce them to see how I tolerate them....coffee is definitely a problem for me and I have to be careful with High fibber foods like cereal, breads etc. ?.. ?also small portions several times a day works better for me.

All small prices to pay for wonderful relief!

It sounded crazy to me....Apple cider vinegar.....but thank you all for sharing because it has made all the difference in my life! ?

I want to thank God as well for this cure. I have been through "medical hell" for quite awhile now.

What's more problematic for me is that I was only 25 and becoming addicted and dependent on nexium, which only fixes the symptoms and not the problems. ?I have seen a GE before and I have been using Zantac, prilosec, and nexium plus tums and baking soda, but this actually fixes the issue.

Praise the Lord Jesus Christ for showing me this awesome cure.

I am starting the third trimester of my third pregnancy with acid reflux after each meal.

Two weeks ago I started to drink "tisanes" of apple cider vinegar (warm water, apple cider vinegar, honey) before each meal or just after: no more acid reflux.

I believe, that this would be just as effective for the nausea that starts in the first trimester, but that will be for someone else to try out.

I was diagnosed with GERD/Acid Reflux when I was in my late twenties.

I started on Prilosec and then moved on to Nexium. I have been taking one or the other for 20 years and my symptoms were never completely relieved - pain; burning; difficulty swallowing, and inability to eat for a day at a time when symptoms were bad.

But I convinced myself that it would have been worse if I stopped taking the pills. Even with the pills, I would have a bad episode every week or two. Recently I learned of the side effects of Nexium on people over 50 who have been taking the drug for longer than a year. That's me. I am terrified!

I had read about the ACV remedy some months ago, and bought it but hadn't had the courage to give up the pills. After the recent medical news about the danger of Nexium, I quit cold-turkey two weeks ago.

Instead I take one tsp of ACV in about 6 oz. of water, with a little honey - at bed time. I have been symptom free since I have been taking it everyday - after 20 years of suffering!

I had long ago changed my diet to eliminate the worst offenders, which for me was anything deep-fried. But I have not and will never give up chocolate, and the ACV still works.

Try it, and good luck! I am one happy convert. :)

I was skeptical when I read all the testimonials on this sight, but I thought I'd give the ACV a try.

I've been struggling with acid reflux for over two years, taking Prilosec and Nexium. These both seemed to work, but then I read about the possibility of bone loss when taking these drugs, and I decided to stop.

I just started two days ago, taking 1 TBLSP. of ACV in 1/2 glass of water before breakfast and dinner.

I cannot believe the results. I'm so much better!

Thanks for this awesome website - it's changed my life!

I used ACV to kill a wart on my toe that I had been battling for years and became a believer.

Last week I had heartburn that just would not go away. I took a double dose of Zantac and sipped on Maalox while I waited. The Maalox provided short term (5 minutes) of comfort but when I realized I had already doubled the recommended daily dose, I googled.

Sure enough, this ACV website came up and with my wart experience, I trusted it.

I just drank a swig straight from the bottle and I was cured within a minute! It didn't resurface at all that night.

I had been diagnosed with having a sensitive esophageal valve, also it was said during the upper g.i. that the valve in the lower part of the stomach appeared to open very slowly.

I have had this problem off and on for 30 yrs. The pain and bloating is now unbearable...

I will try anything to make it better... I have tried all the major antacids and H2 blockers and now am concerned especially with the later causing calcium loss in my bones.

My pharmacy recommended this -- said his wife had used it and it worked well.

Wish any who try it the best of luck.

About 2 months ago I found out I had acid reflux and my doctor put me on prevacid solu-tabs (I have trouble swallowing pills even really small ones), but they didn't really work that well.

I couldn't even drink a really small cup of coffee!!! I love coffee!!! and if I even had a really little bit I would fell like I was going to through up the next morning.

My grandfather told me to try the apple cider vinegar, so I tried it and I have been taking it four about 2 weeks and I can drink all the double strength black coffee I want!!!!!!! no side affects!

Apple cider vinegar is the best!!!

I was taking 30 mg of the ppi crap every day and it did crap. Now I take one or two table spoons of apple cider vinegar every day and it is amazing!!! I love coffee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate acid reflux...

Apple cider vinegar rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had GERD for the past two years.

I'm on protonix twice a day and it is getting less and less effective so I started surfing the Internet for natural remedies.

I started taking acv two days ago with good relief! ?I also stopped the protonix at the same time.

?I'm still skeptical but will give it a week.

Hi every body.

I was diagnosed with acid reflux 2 years ago and my doctor gave me nexium, I took it for about 10 days and stopped it. It does not work plus the bad side effects.

Now I am taking the apple cider vinegar and that's amazing.

Plus I was taking the pau d"arco. That's helped a lot, and no no more medicines, thanks God.

But I have now the same problem with my 5 years old son and he is taking zantac but it does not seem to be working and he does not like to take apple cider vinegar. I wish I could find a solution for him.

ACV, amazing stuff!!

I destroyed my health taking nexium for over 8 years. Finally had to stop the nexium because it started making my ears ring. Undocumented side affect??

Started ACV and it works great, no more ringing in the ears and I feel 100 times better.. wish I would have tried it years ago..

2 weeks and counting, clear of PPI Medications. Drugs are not the Solution, if anything they exacerbate the problem.

I too am sceptical of home or natural remedies, but after one and a half years of dependency on Nexium, the most powerful PPI available in Australia, the drug only destroyed my health. Worst of all, the drug is addictive - any attempts to stop taking it and the reflux returns tens times worse.

The drug suppresses your stomachs ability to produce acid. But you still need some acid to digest your food right. So you stomach continues to attempt to produce acid around the clock until the food is passed. Your stomach becomes untrained.

Retrain your stomach using the ACV. You will digest your food more efficiently. Other health side effects to do with the drugs will pass.

I take a teaspoon just before shoving food in my mouth.

Im 25 and have always had acid reflux.

I had tried everything. The reflux got so bad I would throw up 2-3 times a day. Tums would make it better for about 5 mins then I would throw up the tums and dry heave, it was so painful.

A few years ago I developed a weird habit, I craved apples dipped in apple cider vinegar, usually when my symptoms were bad. I thought nothing of it till my husband mentioned it was weird about a year ago. Then I realized it was only when the reflux was bad and that after I felt better.

I decided to google uses for acv and found your site.

Funny how my body was telling me what I needed all along. Been doing the teaspoon in a glass of water when the symptoms appear for about 2 weeks. No throwing up, no heartburn waking me up at night.

Thank you for posting this. Natural remedies ftw! :)

My kinesiologist suggested that I wasn't getting enough acid in my stomach (since I've been on prilosec for several years), and suggested that I take acv with honey and water 3 times a day.

?I've only been doing this for one day, but I do feel better than when I take the prilosec (which I think causes me to be dizzy sometimes).

Last January I was diagnosed with acid reflux, gastritis, and a hiatal hernia.

I really didn't suffer any pain in my esophagus until a year later. ?A few months ago I started experiencing soreness in my chest and burning and rawness in my esophagus. ?I have been struggling with this on a daily basis, and it has been very painful and disruptive to my daily life. ?I have been on these ppi's like omeprazole twice a day, and then pantaprazole twice a day along with ranitidine twice a day with absolutely no results.

The doctor's office acted like I was crazy when I told them that the medicine did not help me. ?But through research on the internet I am discovering that a lot of people who suffer with acid reflux and the more severe form called Gerd, also report their medications not helping too. ?I thought I was alone until I started reading testimonials from others.

Well anyway, one day I was talking with one of my friends, and she told me to try ACV. ?I also went to a health pharmacy and asked them what I could do to spare my esophagus. ?The pharmacist said to take DGL, slippery elm, and aloe vera juice.

I had tried ACV like my friend had suggested also. ?I was amazed that when I would have the burning that it would sometimes take it instantly away. ?But there was a day when I was working that I took some, and I started burning worse. ?I got discouraged and stopped. ?But then after a couple of weeks decided to give it another try, but this time on a REGULAR BASIS.

I did read that if you are currently treating the disease of Gerd that you need to take a stronger dosage. ?You have to find the amount that is best for you that gives you results. ?Well, I have been taking it regularly for almost a week. ?Just to let everyone know. ?I have had days where I almost feel like my old self again. ?The burning in my esophagus is not as constant. ?I feel a lot better, and am going to continue taking ACV. ?It helps better than my medications.

?I am still taking those also but would not be without my ACV now. ?Everyone's individual cases are different, and it is always good to get a check up from your doctor also to make sure what is really going on inside of you, but if you know you do most definitely have acid reflux, do give ACV a try.

I told my doctor about everything I was doing and he had no problem with it. ?If you take DGL, aloe vera juice, or some of the other homeopathic remedies make sure you do check with your pharmacist to make sure there is no interaction with any other meds. ?But ACV is very beneficial, and is what I believe has been helping me.

I thank God for sending me to all these websites for information, and to see all of the testimonies. ?Some people take the organic ACV, but the regular works too, and is cheaper to buy in a gallon jug. ?It will last you a long time. ?But keep consistent even if you don't have results at first. ?It is worth trying, instead of suffering.

I tried everything over the counter from Zantac, to Prilosec, which gave me temporary relief but the best remedy and relief for me was 1 tablespoon full of White Vinegar.

This is inexpensive, take once in morning and once at night, no more Gerd!

My esophagus is now open again. ?Thank you Lord!

I'm in my 3rd trimester of pregnancy and have been getting terrible acid reflux for the past few weeks.

I was given some antacids from a friend but I heart that these remedies can actually make acid reflux worse because they tell the stomach to produce even more acid.

So, I went online looking for natural remedies and stumbled upon this site... I tried the ACV this evening and the heart burn/acid reflux disappeared after about 2 minutes. ?Incredible!

I took about two tablespoons straight up and it was pretty intense going down but it sure did the job!

I'll be using this remedy from now on.

The Nexium stopped working and I was back to the doctors office for more pills and tests.

I discovered this site, read the testimonials and gave ACV a try. ?I was a little skeptical at first, but it really works.

It actually even helps me sleep better!

I read in a home remedies book about ACV and I haven't taken a pill in 2 years for heartburn.

I drink some with water after dinner or when I start having heartburn symptoms and it instantly goes away.

I have suffered from acid reflux for about ten years.

I started taking OTC acid reducers and then progressed to the prescription drug aciphex. I have also used Protonix, Prevacid, and Nexuim.

My GI-doc said I have a hiatal hernia from the burning in the stomach lining.

I found this site and read the testimonials. I started using ACV as suggested daily. I have not experienced any break through symptoms in three days.

I love this natural remedy. I hated taking the pills and prayed for ?GOD to help me. I was guided website and to this cure.

Thank you so much for your honesty and sharing this wonderful cure.

I'm another one cured by the ACV.

I have suffered from Acid Reflux all of my life. I even had the Nissen surgery done which did not work for me. I took about every PPI pill in the market, including Nexium. I used the PPI for many years. The PPI helped at first, then they stopped working so I had to change brand names for them to work again.

I discovered this site surfing the net one day. I can't not believe that I wasted all that money on PPI pills and even put my life at risk on a major surgery. This is the cure for acid reflux. I can finally go out with my girlfriend and have a couple of beers without having to suffer for the following three days. I can't believe the doctors don't tell you about this remedy!

It took three weeks for the reflux to go away. I'm currently taking 8 ounces of water with 2 to 3 table spoons of ACV twice a day. One in the morning and the other before bed time.

I'm very happy. I feel like I'm normal again. I'm 42.

I have experienced acid reflux for the last 7 years and 3 years ago had an endoscopy which showed damage.

The doctor put me on Nexium, which I have been taking for 3 years. Even with Nexium, I have to watch what I eat and drink and I have been sleeping on a slant pillow.

I wanted to get off the medication and found this website and tried Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) as well as fresh apples and it REALLY works! The relief is instant.

Now, I need to get on a schedule of taking ACV so I can prevent the burn before it starts. ?I wish I could let everyone know that is suffering!

A month ago I went to the ER with horrible heartburn and chest pains.

was told I had GERD and was given a prescription for Prilosec. And of course, I was given the long list of foods I could no longer have which left me practically depressed. ?But considering I would much rather not be in pain, I cut out the foods on the list and took the meds faithfully for the first 11 days. ?And, I no longer had any reflux problems.

But I started having all kinds of other problems. ?Migraine headaches, lightheadedness, diarrhea, and everything I ate just didn't seem to do anything but sit in my stomach. ?After a lot of reading on the internet, I figured out that most of these problems were side effects of the Prilosec and that really the medicine wasn't doing anything but masking the problem. ?So, bye bye Prilosec, I threw the rest away. ?I never really liked being dependent on medication anyway.

In the midst of all the research, I found this site and read every single comment. ?My family used to use ACV to assist in weight loss when I was younger so I knew about some of the benefits of ACV, but I never knew it was good for acid reflux. ?I decided to try it and see what happened.

It's been 4 days since I started drinking 3 tsps of ACV with water before meals and before bed. I've also been taking papaya enzymes to help with my digestion. Today is the best I've felt in a month. ?No heartburn, no constant burping. ?All the side effects from taking the Prilosec are slowly going away. ?The only thing that's been hanging on is the migraine, but tonight is the fist night in a week I haven't had one.

All I can say is I'm so happy I found this site. ?I hope this continues to work for me. ?Anyway, I know I am never touching PPI's again. ?Hopefully as time goes on I'll be able to start reintroducing some of the foods I gave up back into my diet.

Approximately 2 years ago, I was pregnant and in my 2nd trimester I developed a tickle in my throat which later gave way to a chronic cough.

Postpartum I went to several doctors (general/allergist/ent).?The general doc said that I had post nasal drip and prescribed some meds which I didn't take because I was breastfeeding and opted to nasal rinse instead.

My chronic cough endured to my absolute misery. ?The allergist gave me an allergy test and we discovered I have a severe allergy to dust mites and mold and a mild allergy to cats (I have 1). ?She prescribed some medication which I used for a week with no change.

Finally after experiencing chest pains, throat burn along with my chronic cough I see An ENT who checks me out and is like "you want to guess what you have" ?well it turns out that I have "silent LPR", he said that I would basically have it the rest of my life and to take zantac and keep in touch. ?That was May 2009.

It's Feb 2010, zantac gave me headaches, so last week I decided to try acv.

I've known about it and have tried it for several other ailments and it's always worked. ?I'm one week in and my cough is basically gone. ?Will it come back? ?I hope not but right now I'm a happy little camper.

I've had acid reflux since I was born and as an adult it became increasingly worse to the point I have been on a prescribed medication that I take twice daily for the past ten years.

If I go a day or two without my medicine I get heartburn so bad I can't stand it. It's very uncomfortable and once I get it, nothing seems to relieve it right away.

I found out about ACV and it's cures of heartburn and acid reflux and started taking two tablespoons twice a day for nearly two weeks now.

I take one in the morning and one at night. ?I can thankfully say I have not had heartburn in over a week 1/2 and I have not taken my daily med now for about the same time.

ACV truly works for acid reflux!!!

Hi -
For the past 2 years I have been suffering from acid reflux...experienced bloating, belching, difficulty breathing (caused by bloat and acid and a constantly blocked right nostril). Yes, acid does interfere with nasal passages.

I found ACV on the earth clinic site about 6 months back, and swear it helps me every time I drink it. It gives me IMMEDIATE relief. My breathing gets better and my nose becomes clear.

I drink the Bragg brand with the mother. Just add water and shake my head 10 times because, the taste is nasty. But taking my medicine is worth it, as I feel refreshed and renewed.

Please tell others about this miracle cure in a bottle.

I have been on Acid Reflux pills for easily 10 years.

I started with Tums, Then a over the counter heartburn pill ( lil' pink one ), Then prescription, Protonix, Prevacid, Prilosec. Then acid started coming up my esophagus in the night into my lungs. Prescription stuff just quit working.

To the health food store I went. I am drinking a 2oz. shot of Braggs ACV with a tablespoon of pure lemon juice in the A.M. Seems to be working.

When I get a attack I do up a round! Before I eat I take a enzymes vitamin to help digestion.

Good luck.

I am only 21 and I have had a terrible time for the past year with acid reflux and the medicines don't work.

Doctors pretty much told me there was nothing they could do--but that probably has a lot to do with the fact that I have no insurance, but anyway I tried this vinegar thing....GREAT!!

I just used it the first time last night and that is the most I have slept in probably a year!! From just one use!!!!

THANK YOU FOR ALL THE POSTS BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT MADE ME TRY IT AND I'M SO GLAD!

I've been having GERD symptoms for more than 5 years and lifestyle changes would not solve it.

Reflux woke me up many times at night and my esophagus felt tender for days afterwards. I went to a gastroenterologist and got an endoscopy, which revealed that my esophagus was irritated. The doctor prescribed Prilosec and told me I'd have to take it for life.

After two years on Prilosec I started having numbing on my hands at night, strong enough to wake me up in the middle of the night. I researched these symptoms and came to find out there are thousands of sufferers from long term Prilosec out there, many with very serious side effects.

I looked for alternative treatments for GERD and found out about vinegar after meals: IT WORKS GREAT. I've been without Prilosec for 6 months and haven't had a reflux episode since.

I have acid reflux and asthma.

My acid reflux had gotten so bad that I would prevent me from breathing. ?I had bad experiences with medicines for acid reflux, so I began looking for a natural remedy.

I stumbled across BRAGG's Apple Cider Vinegar, and I found this site. ?I was encouraged to try it based off of all of the positive reviews given on this site.

I bought the ACV, put two table spoons in about 8oz of water and drank it. Literally, within 5 minutes, I was able to breath!!! My pain has been eliminated, and I don't have to take any medication for my Acid Reflux as of now!

This is truly a blessing from the Lord, and something to be told! ?I encourage ANYONE who is suffering from Acid Reflux or GERD to go out, buy a bottle of BRAGG's Apple Cider Vinegar, put 2-3 tbsp. in 8oz of water, and drink! ?I can't guarantee anything, but I can say that it definantely worked for me.

Praise the Lord!!!

I have been diagnosing myself for the last several months and have run the gamut of possibilities as to the reasons of this newly assumed chronic cough. Allergies, bronchitis, and the unimaginable, a tumor to explain this chronic condition. After ruling everything out aforementioned either by deduction based upon what were truly my symptoms and then finally seeking the consultation of a PA, who is a lifelong friend, the symptoms pointed to the possibility of acid reflux.

Looking back on what had transpired a few months ago, that is, the lifestyle of massive amounts of coffee and eating once daily, yet virtually consuming the amount of calories in that one meal that would have better served me divided by three at least, it made sense that acid reflux was a definite posibilty. Especially after I did a semi exhaustive study on what the condition entails.

I then set out to take back my health with which G-d had blessed me.

I googled natural remedies for acid reflux and low and behold the treatment which can now be considered viable, was a few hundred feet away at the market. This information came to me in the late evening and of course I couldn't wait til the rising of the sun to make haste to the market.

The following ?day after purchasing the raw, organic type, I took a tablespoon of ACV with about 8-9 ounces of water, three times. The second day was virtually the same dosage. That second day was interesting. The reason is that ?in between the second and third dosages I began to feel this transformation of my body. At the time I didn't know for the better or for the worse. I just could feel something changing inside of me.

So here it is the sixth of January and so far today I have enjoyed a cup of coffee, then for dinner my children and I made a homemade pizza. The toppings on the pizza were jalapeno peppers, bell peppers, onions, garlic pizza sauce, broccoli, and mozzarella cheese of course. I will say that despite the wonderful combination of ingredients I did not gorge myself but rather filled myself to roughly 2/3 per the wisdom of the great Jewish sage Maimonides from his work compiled over a thousand years ago.

It is now almost four hours later and I think I have coughed only once, which I believe is due to the extreme cold, dry air that has pervaded the plain states. ?Other than that the chronic cough seems to have been alleviated due to this wonderful knowledge that was brought to my attention.

What remains to be seen is if I will need to continue this regiment or not. Or some modification of it. Regardless I am grateful that my health is being restored and will update this note at some point with amended details if they exist.

Praise to the G-d of all Israel.

by Rick

French translation
When I go out to restaurants for breakfast I usually eat all on the plate.
After using ACV, I noticed I couldn't eat all of it, maybe half, as I was full or uninterested in eating more.
Don't ask me why, yet this happened after I started using ACV.

Apple Cider Vinegar helped my tennis elbow & arthritis, on top of losing weight

by Anonymous
(Alaska, USA)
French translation
Not only did I lose weight, it helped my tennis elbow and aching arthritis in my hands.
I drank 3-4 drinks a day. 1tbs of ACV, 1tbs of raw honey to 8 oz. of water.
I sometimes heated the water in the microwave until warm (not hot, it will kill the properties). It tasted just like a hot apple cider drink. It tastes great that way, or cold with ice too.

Apple Cider Vinegar is Clearing my Eczema

by Wendy
(Indiana, United States)

I would like to share my eczema story.

I get itchy, scaly, unsightly eczema on my eyelids. It was on both eyes and spreading to below the eye area as well.

It made the skin red and puffy, but leathery looking, aging me considerably.
I had tried numerous Rx and OTC medications, to not avail.

A Google search brought me to ACV. I was desperate, and I had it on hand so I gave it a try.

I mixed a T of it with a T of water, applied it with a q-tip, and the itching immediately stopped. It burns and tingled at first, but then I put Aveeno baby eczema cream on my eyes.

I have been doing this for less than a week, morning and night, and It has completely cleared on one eye, and the other just has a small patch on the eyelid.

Now I am going to begin taking it internally to gain those benefits as well!

Vinegar and diabetes, what do they have to do with each other?
Quite a bit!

According to recent academic studies, vinegar slows the rise of blood sugar levels after you have eaten a meal and when taken at bed time, vinegar lowers morning blood sugar levels.

Professor Carol Johnston PhD, working on the subject of vinegar and diabetes with her research team from the department of nutrition at Arizona state university, have published results on the following three studies:
Apple cider vinegar before meals.Apple cider vinegar before bedtime.Apple cider vinegar during meals for healthy adults.

The research team from Arizona state university, have recently shown that drinking apple cider vinegar slows the rise of blood sugar after the consumption of a high-carbohydrate meal.

The results are reported in the scientific journal Diabetes Care in 2004. (See reference 1)

Test Procedure - Vinegar and Diabetes
In this study 29 people were given a breakfast of orange juice and a bagel, which contained a total of 87 grams of carbohydrates.
Two minutes before the meal, half of the subjects were given 20 grams (about 4 teaspoons) of apple cider vinegar mixed with 40 grams water and 1 teaspoon saccharine. The other half were given a placebo drink.
A cross over trial was conducted a week later, at which time the placebo group received the vinegar.

The participants' blood sugar levels were measured before and after the breakfast. They were classified into 3 separate groups as follows:
10 people with type 2 diabetes11 people with prediabetes (insulin resistant)8 healthy control people (insulin sensitive)Test Results - Vinegar and Diabetes
Analysis of the results showed that in all 3 groups the consumption of apple cider vinegar slowed the rise of blood sugar after the high-carbohydrate breakfast:
For the group with prediabetes, their blood sugar levels after the meal dropped by 34%.For the group with type 2 diabetes, their blood sugar levels dropped by 19%.
Observations and Conclusions - Vinegar and Diabetes
Based on these results and two other recent studies, (see references 2 & 3), Dr Johnston thinks that the vinegar tonic interferes with the absorption of high-carbohydrate foods which reduces the blood sugar rise that normally occurs after a meal.

In her words," The acetic acid in vinegar may inhibit enzymes that digest starch so that carbohydrate molecules aren't available for absorption and are eliminated as fecal matter."
" Vinegar appears to have effects similar to some of the most popular medications for diabetes" (Acarbose or Metformin) continues professor Johnston and "Further investigations to examine the efficacy of vinegar as an antidiabetic therapy are warranted."

This is especially important given that a 50% increase in the number of Americans with type 2 diabetes is expected in the next 25 years.

In addition, the Diabetes Prevention Program and STOP-NIDDM, two recent large-scale trials, have shown that therapeutic agents used to improve insulin sensitivity in diabetes, may also delay or prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes in people with prebiabetes.

In August 2007 a second trial was conducted at Arizona State University, this time to determine the effect apple cider vinegar would have on the fasting blood sugar levels of people with type 2 diabetes. Test Procedure - Vinegar and Diabetes
11 people with type 2 diabetes, who were not taking insulin but were taking prescription oral antidiabetic medication, were given either 1 oz cheese and water (placebo group) or 1 oz cheese and 2 tablespoons of vinegar at bedtime for two days.
A cross over trial was conducted a few days later, at which time the placebo group received the vinegar and cheese, and the vinegar group received only cheese and water.

Fasting blood sugar levels were measured every morning.

Test Results - Vinegar and Diabetes
The researchers found the average fasting blood glucose levels fell by 2% with the placebo (cheese only) and by 4% with the vinegar and cheese.

On closer examination of the data they found that those participants with the highest fasting glucose levels benefited the most from the evening vinegar drink - their fasting blood glucose levels fell by 6%.

Conclusions - Vinegar and Diabetes
These results show that apple cider vinegar, taken with cheese at bedtime, can significantly lower the waking glucose concentrations in type 2 diabetics.

And the authors of this study conclude that "Vinegar is widely available, it is affordable, and it is appealing as a remedy, but much more work is required to determine whether vinegar is a useful adjunct therapy for individuals with diabetes."

In January 2010 another study was published by the Arizona State University team, this time mainly to determine the effect apple cider vinegar would have on the blood sugar levels of healthy adults.

Test Procedure - Study #3
In this study 4 randomized crossover trials were conducted with about 30 healthy adults and 9 adults with type 2 diabetes.

All participants ate a standardized meal the evening prior to testing, then after a 10 hour overnight fast were given a test meal consisting of a bagel, butter and fruit juice with or without 10 grams of vinegar. Two hours later, glucose testing was conducted.

Test Results, Observations and Conclusions - Study #3
Analysis of the results showed that for healthy adults, taking 2 teaspoons of vinegar ( 10 grams) with a meal composed of complex carbohydrates reduces blood sugar levels by 20% compared to placebo, as measured 2 hours after the meal.

10 grams of 5% acetic acid vinegar was found to be the most effective dose to lower blood glucose levels and taking the vinegar during the meal was more effective compared to 5 hours before the meal.

The researchers state that taking steps to reduce "after meal blood sugar levels" is recommended by the American Diabetes Association to limit complications of diabetes.

They also say that ??two teaspoons of vinegar could be consumed palatably in hot tea with lemon at mealtime.?

I have pancreatitis due to high triglycerides.

Recently home from my second hospitalization in three years and my sugars will not come down. ?Morning sugars were around 306. The lowest was around 215.

Last night I took 3 tablespoons of white vinegar in 4 ounces of water and this morning my fasting blood sugar was 178. ?Much improved from 300. Today I am starting ACV before each meal...we will see.

Also, I don't eat what I want. ?I eat meals in low fat and low carbs due to the type 2 diabetes and the pancreatitis. ?Nothing has worked. ?Also am on Metformin. ?It was NOT working. ?ACV WORKS!

I encourage anyone struggling to regulate their blood sugar levels as a type 2 diabetic to give it a try...you have nothing to lose and everything to gain. ?I am thankful to God for bringing me to this information.

I started using acv pills about a month ago and it help lower my glucose levels so well, I thought I might not be diabetic anymore.

My sugar is better than it has been in ten years. It's not that I didn't try before, it just wouldn't work like it's supposed to.

I take glucotrol 10 mg., my fasting sugar was 145 to 200 before, now it is 73 to 130. As long as I don't overdo it with carbs, it stays good.

The acv pills really do work, do what I did, just try it. Seems like an all natural substance to me, no side effects so far. See it it works for you. Wouldn't hurt to try, that's the way I looked at it.

By the way.....even when I did overdo it, my sugar was not over 150!

Hope this helps someone who feels helpless like there was no hope of getting it to normal. It is very discouraging when you are really trying and it does no good. ACV pills give you the power.

Good luck!

We are both type2 diabetics. And use a cocktail with ginger, garlic and ACV and our sugar levers are regularly 7 or under (diabetic over 10 years).

We were discharged from the hospital and seen by practise nurse. We walk regularly and try to eat healthy but even with the odd binge are doing very well.

I have pre-diabetes and am self-treating through lifestyle changes.

I test my blood sugar every night before I go to bed and then my fasting glucose in the morning. My bedtime readings are usually in the 90's and my morning readings average 106.

I began taking two ACV pills, 450 mg each, when I go to bed and now my morning glucose readings are in the 90's... and always the same or lower than when I went to bed.

I control my daytime sugars very well and was frustrated that my readings would climb overnight. The ACV pills have taken care of that! I'm thrilled.

I am a 52 year old female with Non alcoholic fatty liver disease with cirrhosis.

About a month after getting this diagnosis I was also diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Hence the creation of the liver problem.

I started the Janumet pill twice a day to no avail my diabetes progressed quickly I was put on Insulin as well as the Janumet, still my insulin levels were climbing up to the 400's, yea I could feel my liver working over time.

I remembered checking into ACV for weight loss, but didn't stick with it. So I started looking into it for diabetic benefit and wow.

Yesterday I had a blood sugar reading of 405, I took 1 tbsp of ACV and with in 30 minutes it had gone from 405 to 374. Took another tbsp and in 30 minutes down to 352, this morning I had a reading of 177 and at 2:20 this afternoon I was 104. OMG I have tested twice more today after my evening meal and I have stayed mid 100's all day, not once did I go up over 200 today.

I am so grateful I found this out it could possibly save my life and that's no lie. I cant for the life of myself (no pun intended) understand why doesn't every diabetic do this?

I am a type 2 diabetic. I have been struggling to get my blood sugar under control.

The other night after eating supper, I ate a few dill pickles and actually drank some of the juice they were packed in.

About and hour later I checked my blood sugar and it was lower then it had been all day! Amazing !

I had almost forgot about this, but for some reason I decided to check on the internet to see if this was possible. Glad I did.

Now I know it does work and I will be drinking the ACV daily.

I use Aceto Balsamico 4 times a day, after meals and at bed time, either with 1/2 glass water topped up with cranberry juice or with olive oil and soda bread, here in Europe with do not suffer with caramel and/or colourants, it's pure.

I find it very tasty, no soreness or bitterness.

I have been taking the aceto for 1 week and my highest level was 16.2, before I started after being advised by my Diabetic nurse to start eating lots of fruit. (oh hummm)( I was in the 8's before her suggestion)

I am now down to 11.4 and am hopeing to get down to the low 8's by Christmas and my aim is to get down to 5 soon in the new year, so please wish me luck.

I am pre-diabetic with high numbers after a high carb meal.

I am newly trying ACV, and my numbers are definitely lower so will continue, however I will try lemon juice instead, as I have read a study that it will do the job just as well. ?Maybe it won't be as hard on the throat etc.

If it doesn't work, I will definitely continue with the ACV. ?I also find that taking the vinegar daily has stopped my hot flashes! ?I am taking the ACV capsules and they work fine.

How ACV and lifestyle helps my sugars:

By pure numbers I am type 2 diabetic; I inherit this condition from both my bio mom and bio dad. ?I recently heard about the benefits of ACV for weight loss and diabetes so I thought I'd give it a try.

By eating sensibly, exercising more regularly than I have in the last few years, and taking ACV, I have noticed results in the mirror and in my random sugar testing.

I know, I should test all the time, but I go more by 'feel'. ?And I feel great, and stable sugar-wise when taking the ACV. ?Random testing used to have me high in the mornings - 8 - 11 sometimes and since the ACV I am in normal sugar ranges in the morning.

I can't believe how well this has worked for me. ?My ACV ritual - some (tbsp) in the morning with water and also before bed, and if I think of it, a tsp with water just before a meal.

Had I known ACV would have these benefits, I would have tried this long ago.

I am type 2 diabetic . Recently I started taking coconut vinegar (about 60 ml) prior (to) each meal and my diabetic readings have dropped from average 140 to 110 pre prandial.

Great stuff and most inexpensive diabetic treatment. I advise it for all diabetics whether type 1 or 2.

Note from:apple-cider-vinegar-benefits-com ?- The use of apple cider vinegar, or other vinegars, as help in the treatment of diabetes, has been shown to be effective in the case of prediabetics and type 2 diabetics. We are not aware of any benefits for type 1 diabetics.

One night I decided to take a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar for my blood pressure during the week I notice that my blood sugar reading was down from 140-147 to 104 -114 daily.

I realized it was the ACV. I been spreading the word to all my friends who are diabetics. I want everyone who is reading to believe ACV does work.

My condition has gone undiagnosed. ?I've been self-monitoring / self-managing for the past 10 days.

I exercised 10-20 minutes 1 hour after every meal. ?During the past 10 days, I took 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with 1/2 cup of water before every meal and at bedtime.

I checked my blood glucose levels upon rising (6:30 a.m.)and two hours after lunch (2:00 p.m.) My morning glucose levels dropped from 122 to 91 and my afternoon glucose levels dropped from 126 to 97.

Coupled with a strict diet, I also lost a lot of weight during the past 10 days.

I immediately felt a difference and this morning I feel a hundred percent better.

I was recently diagnosed with Type II diabetes.

Metformin twice a day and 1/2 Glimepiride tablet once a day. Numbers were coming down but not enough.

Started using 2T of ACV in Crystal lite 4 times a day. In the morning, before lunch, before supper, and before bed.

Blood sugar levels have dropped significantly. I am so thrilled with the results I am sharing the good news with anyone who will listen.

My fasting blood sugar was at 229 it is now at 122. This is nothing to sneeze at.

It is so cost effective and not hard to do at all. What have you got to loose?

I was just going to add my two bits. I have been a Type II diabetic for 14 years.

I recently heard about the medicinal benefits of ACV. I would have to say I have become a believer.

I was generally having morning readings in the mid- to high 200's. since I added ACV to my diet,( I take a 2 tblsp "shot" from shot glass) 3x a day and my numbers have been incredible!

I generally have a morning reading in double digits (72-98) and my daytime and evening pre-meal ones are in the 110-150s.

I am going to see my doctor next week and see what he thinks. It has been a "blessed" 4 weeks!

Hi, I've been taking ACV for 5 days now, morning after meals and night, taking about 2 tbls with water, my sugar was averaging 14, I've just tested my blood and it is down to 9.9 in 5 days.

I don't know if its all down to the ACV as I'm also taking fenugreek capsules bitter melon capsules Gymnema Sylvestre capsules.

I've also cut out meat, margarine, cakes etc, and I've adopted a healthy diet, I'm drinking lemon juice in boiled water in the morning, eating oats with chia seeds and ground flax seeds and cinnamon mixed in.

I've also included the budwig diet that I take once a day, I'll let you know if my sugar gets any less.

I have been taking 2 Tbsp. of ACV mixed with 4-6 oz. of water prior to eating anything that is high in carbs.

This always works in keeping my blood sugar levels down by 20%-40% vs. not taking the ACV. Sometimes I'll forget to take it before eating high carb foods so I'll take it afterwards and it works about the same.

I've read that you can mix a little baking soda (about 1/4 tsp.) with the ACV if the ACV bothers your stomach. I haven't tried this so I'm not sure what the results are, but it's supposed to be better for your teeth.

Much like Marilyn, I was searching for something to stop the itching of uticaria that had developed several months ago.

I also used the ACV that contains the mother and it soothed it on contact. The redness is also resolving and to date all the prescription medication I have been given has not had much effect on the condition.

I think we may be onto something!

I am also a type II diabetic so I will add the vinegar to my diet and see if there is a change in my glucose readings.

I am using apple cider vinegar for a condition called chronic urtacaria & really come by it by accident.

Rattling through cupboards to see what could help with horrible itching, I decided to apply apple cider vinegar with the mother & was more than surprised just how well this has worked for me.

Given that I see Specialists all the time for my condition & nothing has worked, ACV has given me so much & I would like to see so many other sufferers give this a go.

I also have pre-diabetes & have seen the numbers fall, I am a true believer.

I've had type 2 diabetes since 2004. My morning fasting numbers had been climbing in the last few months, normally averaging 140-150, with daytime numbers fluctuating between 150-160. [on Metformin 2X a day]

My doctor wanted to start me on Byetta as well as the pills, but at this point, it 's not a mandatory thing. I decided to try the ACV and see what it might do.

I started it at night - 2 tablespoons before bedtime. My morning fasting # was 131 - a significant drop. I followed up with another 2 tablespoons in the morning. Throughout the day my after meals numbers were 113 and 128. I took another dose at bedtime and the next morning, my fasting number was 111. Evening number was 121.

I purposefully went off of the ACV for a day and my evening after meal number went back up to 143. This was proof enough for me that the ACV is definitely working.

I'm going to try mixing it in my crystal light, because either taking it straight with a drink chaser or mixing it in just water is too harsh for my throat.

I've just recently learned about the ACV/lower blood sugar connection, and have been trying it for only a few days.

I haven't tried the bedtime one yet, but will tonight.

Just wanted to share that after a dinner out last night, my two-hour check was 197. I drank about a 1-1/2 tbs. of ACV. Two hours later my sugar was 93. Yes, I was impressed.

Will continue this regimen. So far, no stomach upset. I usually drink it in water with stevia.

I have had type 2 diabetes for 7 years and always have high fasting sugars.

I have started taking 1 tbsp. ACV with a little water each evening. My fasting blood sugar has never been as low. It was always about 8.5(150 on the US scale). It is now regularly around 7(126 US scale).

I'm a believer!

I have been taking ACV twice a day and today my reading was 7.4 two weeks later....I was delighted....I can't exercise must because of 2 bad hips and a knee...but have been trying to watch what I eat....

I was just advised by my doctor that I was in the early stage of diabetes.

My parents also have diabetes. ?I quickly turned to the internet to find a natural remedy. ?The above testimonies have given me the courage to use ACV.

At present I am adding it to my drinking water. ?I use bottled water. ?I open two bottles each morning, drink a large swallow and fill that space with ACV.

I will also try the Vinegar, water and sweetener. ?I think I will take it one step further and add some olive oil for my salad dressing.

I use organic vinegar,1 tablespoon in a glass of water in the morning.

It lowers my blood pressure. My latest reading 121/61. Normally 140/70/80, which my Dr. says I need meds. Hmmm...no.

I also have type 2 diabetes . I do not take any meds for, I've had this disease for over 20 years, I use dandelion root, fenugreek seed, cinnamon and black/green tea, I'm still here. I have used for the last 2 years, stevia as a sweetener, no side affects. NONE.

Natural raw vinegar with mother is what you want to consume, not store bought!

As far as lowering my blood sugar, slightly, but maybe if I would consume more, possibly, I have to keep checking my sugar, and will post here again and let you all know.

I have been a type 2 diabetic for three years and have struggled with ?high glucose levels in the morning vs bedtime glucose.

A few months ago I started drinking a 6oz cup of water with a tablespoon of ACV at bedtime - my glucose levels have been lower than my bedtime glucose - finally.

I have been diabetic (type 2) for about 3 years and through a variety of measures (supplements and diet) have managed to get my HeA1C readings down from 9.3 to 5.7 without medications.

That said, I recently had a nice lunch out and was alarmed that my 2 hour post meal readings were 191.

I took 2 tablespoons of ?ACV and also a teaspoon of cinnamon, a tablespoon of Fenugreek powder and a tablespoon of turmeric. I exercised on a treadmill for 1 hour, supposedly doing ?750 calories of work. ??My blood sugar dropped to 81.

I have never seen such a drop before (the most was 30 points in 1.5 hours). Not very scientific, but a real observation.

I have been diagnosed with pre diabetes but I am not taking any medicines instead I have started 40 - 45 min. of brisk walk, cutting down in red meat & poultry and taking Jamun (India black berry or black plum or Syzygium cumin - a fruit native to India found during monsoon June - August) and Vinegar after meals.

This has a very positive effect on my sugar level and I have almost controlled my sugar levels.

One month of two teaspoons ACV in water, before meals and my pre diabetic numbers have reduced by at least 10 percent.

In fact one day they dipped to 65 after exercise which I quickly remedied.

I also take 500mg Metaformin twice daily during meals.

Will try the evening 2 tablespoons with cheese next. I do not want diabetes and will continue with this regime which is suiting me well and I like vinegar too.

I have type 1 diabetes for 52 years and in the summer time I would make a bowel of fresh vegetables for to snack or have to eat with my sandwich at Lunch and some times I would have it at Dinner time.

I would cut up a skinned cucumber, 2 or 3 tomato's and an sweet onion in a bowl fill the bowl with Apple Cider Vinegar and add a little water and a couple of packets of sweeter if you like and let marinate over night. Every day or two I would just add more vegetables to the mix.

I got to notice that my blood sugars were on target in the morning and not knowing why until on the news they said vinegar helped to control the high-carbohydrate meal I had.

Now I have added it to my daily meal. I like to dip the edge of my sandwich into the mixture to.

I have found it effective in lowering early morning glucose (by 2% without cheese).

However, how to deal with upset stomach. I use Asephex.

Any idea to have apple cider and not have stomach problem.

Thanks

Some people find that adding the apple cider vinegar to a juice drink, such as orange juice or an orange and cranberry juice mix, helps them to avoid upset stomach problems and greatly improves taste.

I have just started with one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in the morning and my blood sugar has not changed much.

I have been doing it this way for a month now.

From now On, I will use it in the evening as well and see how that works.

I hope that this can help. I do not take meds. More later.
